On the 21 April the Chair of the PES Network, Johannes Kopf, met with the Executive Director of the European Labour Authority (ELA), Cosmin Boiangiu in Bratislava to exchange on planned initiatives and seek for possible synergies. Johannes Kopf congratulated colleagues from ELA for their ambitious work programme ahead. Since both ELA and the PES Network address some similar topics within their future work programmes from different perspectives, seeking for joint solutions to common challenges on the European Labour markets seems to be an excellent opportunity to strengthen cooperation.
One priority for ELA in the upcoming years will be the optimisation of the potential of the EURES portal to better support the labour mobility. This entails several dimensions including better use of technological innovations such as algorithms and AI. Public Employment Services are key players within EURES and many PES already use such modern approaches to optimise their service, therefore exchange of experiences would be of value added. In light of the European wide lack of skilled workers, the PES Network plans to look into approaches on how Member States define shortages. Digitalisation and its ‘twin’ green transition as well as the impact on PES services remains high in the Network’s agenda. ELA is as well committed to these topics putting digital solutions to labour mobility on its agenda.
We are looking forward to further exploring possible synergies!
