The European Labour Market Barometer rises for the fourth time running, gaining 0.3 points in April compared to the previous month and now standing at 102.0 points. The components for employment and unemployment of the labour market leading indicator of the European Network of Public Employment Services and the IAB both increased slightly: by 0.3 points to 103.4 points and by 0.2 points to 100.5 points respectively. The outlook for employment is good. The component for the unemployment forecast now gives reason to expect a slight drop in the unemployment rate again.
Although the prospects for the labour market in Europe are not yet as strong as they were a year ago, they have recovered significantly after the energy crisis
says Enzo Weber, IAB head of forecast. There is particularly an improvement in Eastern Europe in April.
